This large house and garden are in the popular satellite town of Las Gabias, very close to Pedro Verde golf course and Granada city. It has many Andalucian features as well as Roman and Moorish styling, and the exterior needs to be updated with a more modern paint colour. The garden now needs some work but you can see that at one time it was very lovely. Each section has it’s own zone and theme. Near the street side is a wandering path that takes you through a grassy area and past a giant antigue oil jar, through some trees and to a wild herb garden. From here you get to a chill out zone with table tennis table, BBQ, large stone tub which just cries out to be filled with water or plants, some trees behind and then you move to the pool area. The large pool (approx. 5x11m) is fully tiled and has four large doric columns guarding it. There is ample space for sun loungers, outdoor dining area or another games table and there is a second giant antique oil jar set in the paving next to a raised bed of trees and plants. There is automatic irrigation which unfortunately was accidently switched off so many of the plants have suffered from lack of water but nothing that can’t easily and cheaply be sorted out. Near the pool and down a few steps is a fenced off plot of land which can either be incorporated in to the existing garden, it would make an amazing veggie patch, and you could have chickens here, or it can be partitioned off from the title deeds and sold on as a building plot. To access the house from the front you go up several steps to a large porch which has enough room for a table and chairs, and has three lights installed for the evenings. The front door leads to a large hallway with open plan staircase that has a big, coloured glass Moroccan ceiling lamp centrally set as well as some glass bricks in the front wall to provide natural light. To the right of the hall are double doors leading to a spacious sitting room with sliding doors to the front porch and three more windows, two overlooking the pool and the third with views towards the Sierra Nevada. A corner fireplace with wood burning stove is perfect for winter nights and the windows are all double glazed. This sitting room has a minstrels gallery which makes a perfect games area or music room. Up a few steps in this open plan L shaped room is the formal dining room with views towards the Sierra Nevada and just off here is the kitchen. The kitchen is dated and needs a makeover but is perfectly useable as it is. There are a lot of cupboards, a large pantry, and plenty of worktop space and the windows overlook the Granada valley and the garden. The control boiler for the central heating is in a room just off the kitchen and a door leads to a short corridor which takes you to a bathroom, downstairs bedroom and back to the main hall. The bedroom is the entrance side of the house and is a good size. The bathroom is dated but I kind of like the tiling, there’s something very charming about it. The usual sink, WC, bidet, and bath are installed and it’s perfectly usable but won’t be to everyone’s taste. The staircase is wide but not with steep stairs and is a perfect place for a picture gallery which is how the current owners have decorated it. From the top floor hallway you access the minstrels gallery that has plenty of light and good views as well as all the bedrooms and another bathroom. The bedrooms are all good sizes with built in wardrobes and one has built in shelves, and central heating by radiators. The family bathroom is a good size with WC, basin, bath with shower over and bidet. The principal bedroom is ensuite and has a very large in built wardrobe, dressing space, and a mirrored door that leads out to a 4x3m (approx) terrace. You can also access this terrace from the hall. The bathroom is large wth a bath, shower over and screen, sinks, WC, bidet and electric heater. This room also needs updating but is perfectly useable. The house also has a 70m2 ‘torreon’. This is a tower built on the top of the house which can be opened up to make additional space. You would need to put in a staircase from the hallway and open up the ceiling to access the space and then remove the bricks that currently seal the room from the outside world and put in glass for windows. It is impossible to view the inside of this space unless you open up the ceiling in the hall. The house also has a huge basement split into four main sections. Access from inside the house is under the staircase and one down in the basement you can go left or right. To the left is a room which has a sliding partition and is used as an artists studio. Through the sliding partition is a very large store room with a basic WC and water sink plus a door to the pool area. Up a few steps is a low ceilinged store room where the oil for the central heating is stored. To the right of the stairs down to the basement is the large garage. This space has been fitted out as a great workshop space one end and with space for a car or two at the other end. The previous owners fitted a walk in wall safe and this is still intact and makes a great talking point. The garage has sliding doors to enter and there is more parking under a car port area near to the garage. The house will come partially furnished with basic furniture but any purchaser might want to make an offer on some or all of the amazing antiques that are found throughout this family home.
