Manilva is an Andalusian municipality in the province of Malaga, the Western Costa del Sol. It borders Casares and the province of Cádiz. The predominant landscape consists of small hills separated by streams and valleys with a large limestone depression behind the population nucleus known as the Canuto de la Utrera.
It is composed of three main population nuclei as follows: main nucleus, Manilva, is situated approximately to 2 km inland; the coastal town of San Luis de Sabinillas (known as Sabinillas) which is the most populated nucleus of the three; and the fishermen's quarter of Castillo de la Duquesa (known as El Castillo) 1.75 km west following the coastline. Apart from these nuclei there are several developments such as Puerto de la Duquesa, Los Hidalgos, Guadalupe, Aldea Beach and Vistalmar Duquesa Sur and others on Camino Martagina that are turning the municipality into a small coastal city.
To the east it borders the municipality of Estepona, traditional fishing port converted into a tourist city, and to the north the municipality of Casares, white Andalusian village embedded in the mountain offering a spectacular landscape. The whole area is dominated by the Pico de los Reales, 1452 meters high from which one can enjoy an excellent view of the area. The Manilva coastline stretches for 7.8 km.

The municipality is designing and developing the first strategic plan of the city of Manilva. This will be the first step for the town of Manilva to have a management based on strategic direction. This means that they are not proposing a static project, but rather the opposite: dynamic, revisable, adaptable and controllable.
The strategic plan of Manilva is characterized by being a participatory and open project from the beginning. The participation of the economic and social agents of Manilva during all phases of the project will make the citizens of Manilva participate in their own future. In this way, if citizen participation is added to the political consensus of all the representatives of citizens, the project starts with the best possible endorsement.
The main objective of the whole project is very clear:
"Identify the model of the city that provides the greatest economic and social well-being to all the citizens and establish the path to achieve it. All this by materializing in plans and programs that incorporate actions and initiatives oriented to action ".
