The Guadalteba, Guadalhorce and Conde de Guadalhorce reservoirs make up what is popularly known as The Three Lakes. As well as being the main water supply for the province of Malaga, these linked reservoirs provide an alternative to the beach in the summer. More and more people prefer the quiet of these fresh waters, with amenities similar to those on the coast.
A nice swim, fishing or seeing the lake from a pedalo are some of the options available. Located in the heart of the province, between the agricultural areas of Antequera, Guadalteba and Guadalhorce, you can also take a quiet walk along the banks of the lakes or simply rest under the trees. The more daring can go in for adventure sports, such as climbing the vertical rock faces of Los Gaitanes gorge, situated in the area known as El Chorro.
To enjoy all the charms of The Three Lakes travel to Parque Ardales, where you will find a camp site and holiday apartments. The Posada del Conde, a hotel with impressive views of the reservoir, is situated there. On the winding road around the lakes you will find restaurants such as El Kiosco, where you can enjoy a delicious tapa in peace. Around the reservoirs are big fields which, in the summer, are given over to the cultivation of sunflowers.
How to get there: From Malaga, take the A-357 going towards Campillos until you reach Ardales. From there take the local road that goes to the lake area.
